Flights, Ferries & Travel Tips for 2026

Every route, operator, fare, and schedule you need to plan your journey from Cebu to the Philippines’ most mystical island — updated for 2026.

Overview: Your Options at a Glance

Siquijor is one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines — a place of turquoise waters, white sand beaches, enchanting waterfalls, and a mystical healing culture that's unlike anywhere else in the Visayas. It's the kind of destination that stays with you long after you leave.

But for years, getting there was the tricky part. While islands like Boracay and Siargao had direct flights and streamlined travel routes, reaching Siquijor meant navigating a patchwork of ferries, bus rides, and layovers that could eat up an entire day. It was worth it, but it wasn't easy.

The good news? That's no longer the full picture. Today, there are more ways to reach Siquijor than ever before, from budget-friendly overnight ferries to options that can get you there in under an hour. The right route depends on where you're coming from, how much time you have, and what kind of traveler you are.

Route 4: Fly Cebu to Dumaguete, Then Ferry to Siquijor

This route was once the fastest option before direct flights became available, and it can still be used as an option due to continuous ferry connections between Dumaguete and Siquijor.

Step 1: Cebu to Dumaguete by Air

Flights from Mactan-Cebu International Airport to Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport operate 1–2 times daily, with a flight time of approximately 55 minutes. Fares typically start around ₱4,000+.

Dumaguete Airport is small and easy to navigate. Upon arrival, tricycles are readily available outside the terminal, with the ride to Dumaguete Port taking around 15-30 minutes and costing P120-150.

Step 2: Dumaguete to Siquijor by Ferry

Multiple operators run ferries throughout the day, giving you plenty of departure options from early morning to evening:

Operator Type Duration Fare (One-Way) Frequency
OceanJet Fast craft 40–50 min ₱455 5x daily
Anika Star Fast craft 1.5 hrs From ₱569.64 4x daily
Montenegro Lines RoRo 1.5 hrs From ₱437 4x daily

OceanJet stands out as the most efficient option, with the fastest travel time (40–50 minutes) and the highest frequency (5x daily), though it comes at a mid-range fare of ₱455. It’s the most time-saving and flexible choice for same-day planning.

Anika Star operates at a slower 1.5-hour fast craft journey with a higher fare starting at ₱569.64, but still maintains regular daily trips (4x daily), making it less time-efficient compared to its pricing.

Montenegro Lines, a RoRo service, offers the lowest fare (from ₱437) but shares the same 1.5-hour travel time and 4x daily frequency as Anika Star, positioning it as the most budget-friendly but least time-optimized option.

Overall, the routes cater to different priorities: speed and flexibility (OceanJet), mid-tier convenience (Anika Star), and budget savings (Montenegro Lines).

Why this route works: Even if you miss one ferry, another departs within a couple of hours. No other route offers this kind of flexibility. It’s also a good excuse to spend a few hours (or a night) in Dumaguete — a charming university city known for great food and a beautiful seaside boulevard.

Route 5: Bus from Southern Cebu to Dumaguete, Then Ferry

This is the most budget-friendly route, popular among backpackers traveling from southern Cebu areas like Moalboal or Oslob.

Travelers first take a bus from Cebu City or nearby southern towns to Liloan Port in Santander, which takes around 3 to 4 hours from the city. From Liloan, a short 20-minute ferry crosses to Sibulan in Negros Oriental, followed by a brief land transfer to Dumaguete Port. From there, ferries bound for Siquijor are available throughout the day, taking about 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the vessel.

The full journey typically takes 5 to 7 hours with total costs ranging from ₱500 to ₱800, making it the cheapest but most transfer-heavy option.

Which Route Should You Choose?

Depending on your convenience and travel preference, passengers may choose Sunlight Air when flying to Siquijor as it offers one of the most direct, time efficient, and seamless ways to reach the island. With flights operating from Cebu, travelers can bypass the usual combination of ferry transfers and extended land travel, replacing hours of multi-leg connections with a single 55 minute flight.

Launched in 2025 following the opening of Siquijor’s operational airport, Sunlight Air’s Cebu to Siquijor route has made access to the island significantly more convenient. Instead of planning around limited ferry schedules and unpredictable sea conditions, passengers can rely on consistent flights available three times a week, giving them more flexibility in building their itineraries.

Beyond speed and frequency, the experience itself adds to the appeal. Flying allows travelers to start their journey in a more comfortable and relaxed way, arriving in Siquijor refreshed and ready to explore rather than exhausted from long transfers. It also strengthens Cebu’s role as a key gateway hub, making Siquijor easier to connect to from major cities across the country.

Ultimately, choosing Sunlight Air means choosing efficiency, reliability, and ease. It turns what was once a long and segmented trip into a straightforward journey, allowing travelers to focus less on how to get there and more on experiencing Siquijor itself.
